Native Indian Songs and Chants for the Recorder

  • These songs and chants can be used to play along to on the recorder or simply to sing
  • They can help to foster a sense of community if they are sung together in groups
  • The songs are simple, positive and meaningful. They enable us to to reconnect with ourselves and the planet we share
  • You can also play to the beat of the songs with a hand held drum
  • In all traditions music and singing has been  primarily for a spiritual purpose. By liberating our voices we make contact with every deeper levels of ourselves and release an untapped source of energy
  • The books have also been translated into French, German and Spanish
  • The books have a CD that accompany the book

Rhythm has been used as a tool for thousands of years to create and maintain levels of physical, mental and spiritual health.  The metabolic effects of drumming include focussed mental concentration, improved blood circulation, lowering of blood pressure, accelerated neuronal firing, improved sleep and respiration, boosting of the immune system and producing feelings of well-being.  The sound of the healing drum travels directly to the inner core and can facilitate a release of negative thoughts and behaviour by lifting the vibration of the body, thus changing our emotional state.

Don’t walk behind me

I may not lead

Don’t walk in front of me

I may not follow

Walk beside me, so that we may be as one

(Ute)

I have spent many evenings singing, drumming and playing the native flute for pure enjoyment and fun, working together in the spirit of friendship, blending music, creating harmony, joy and spiritual connection.  Everyone is impacted by others in their community, the environment they share and their relationships with one another, let’s harmonise together and bring the community spirit back home to the heart of our communities.
